Coventry City Academy Boss Gregor Rioch feels that Cardiff City’s Ben Turner is destined to play at a higher level.
Turner was many fans Man Of The Match in Sunday’s League Cup Final between Cardiff City and Liverpool and speaking about Turner who was in Brian Borrows’ City U18’s team which won FA Premier Academy League Group B title in 2005 and who put in a sterling performance which included a goal for Cardiff on Sunday, Ricoh told the CT’s Andy Turner: “I think there would have been an argument for him getting man of the match if Cardiff had won it.
“I think he can play higher because I don’t think there is anything between him and Scott Dann who I worked with out in Denmark when he was 19 and on loan from Walsall.
“I look at Ben Turner and see some unbelievable attributes that he’s got that Scott hasn’t.
"He’s a little bit bigger, a little bit quicker, he’s a left footer and I certainly think Ben can play Premier League football.
“The one thing they both have is a real desire, determination and dedication to get there, and with that anything is achievable and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him play Premier League football within the next couple of years.
“They’re both great lads and real leaders too.
“Ben had already gained a professional contract when I came to Coventry but we are always proud of players who have come through this football club and go on to do as well as he has done.
“I rate him massively as a player and we still use him in Academy brochures and meetings as a great example to our existing players.”
