Ben Turner's loan at Coventry City is over.
The central defender injured his left ankle in the 23rd minute of City's 1-1 draw with Oldham on Saturday and he has returned to Cardiff City.
Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “It’s not good news for Ben or us.
“It looks as if he’s going to need another operation, this time on his left ankle, so he’s gone back to Cardiff to come under their supervision.
“Obviously our thoughts are with Ben who won’t be in a good place at the moment but as I said to him, he’s been through it with his other ankle and he’s made of the right stuff and I am sure he’ll come out the other end stronger.
“That’s the positive for him and hopefully he’ll be back before the end of the season , back on the pitch playing football.
“It’s a huge blow for the lad, first and foremost, and then for us as well. He was just what we needed, very dominannt and physical who could deal with all the big guys in this league and I thank Cardiff and Russell Slade for allowing him to come to us to get game time to get back into their side.
“It’s just disappointing for everyone the way it has turned out. I have spoken to Russell who is philosophical about it, I suppose. There’s nothing we can do about it now.
“It was just one of those things and if it was going to happen it was going to happen. He was just heading the ball back to the keeper and landed awkwardly but hopefully when he comes back he’ll have two pretty solid ankles moving forward to push on with.”
