Coventry City pair James McPake and David Bell are set to miss Wednesday nights game at Newcastle because of injuries.
McPake hasn't recovered from a back problem which saw him sit out Saturday's win over QPR. Winger David Bell has some bad bruising which is unlikely to heal in time, so he too will miss out.
Aron Gunnarsson will probably be fit after recovering from a shin injury and will be available for selection.
City manager said of the players, “Aron trained and came through OK but James and David didn’t and are doubts for tomorrow’s game. It doesn’t look like James will be ready but we will try to get him fit for selection for the weekend. Belly has major bruising and at the minute I don’t think he will be available to start.”
New signing Jon Stead is also in contention for a squad place, even if doesn't start the game. Chris Coleman stated, "He’s 6ft 4, he can hold the ball up, he has got good movement and knows where the goal is. He has played in the Premier League and I am looking forward to working with him. He gives us another dimension, offensively. We have got him until the end of the season and I am sure he will do well for us."
“He has missed a bit of football with Ipswich because he had a ban for three or four games but he has played a little bit in the last couple of games and been training, and fingers crossed he will be available for tomorrow night. His work-rate is very good and he knows what this league is all about."
"He can score goals for us and he can get us up the pitch. He is someone who we can play off but he has got a little bit more than that. He can run in behind and has got good feet, so we think it will be a good mixture with Clinton, Freddy Eastwood and Freddie Sears.”
