COVENTRY CITY U18's 2-0 IPSWICH TOWN BY KEV MONKS

Coventry City U18's left it late to beat Ipswich Town in an Inter League Challenge game.

On a warm morning at the Alan Higgs Centre and with Iain Dowie plus Frankie Bunn and later John Harbin in the crowd, the visitors had the early play.

Ed Upson and a flick header from Jack Ainsley both went close.

At the other end. A Kieran Fitzharris free kick and Matty West shot were the only efforts of note in a drab first half.

City were more attack minded in the second half with Dale Jones firing wide in the 47th minute and Shaun Jeffers who looked useful on his debut twice forcing Andy Plummers into saves.

The closest we came to a goal was in the 67th minute when Ashley Cain had to head away off his own line from a Jai Reason header.
But in the 85th minute, the City supporters had something to cheer when David Burtoft got into the area and drove the ball under the keeper and into the net.

Like buses,a second goal arrived three minutes later and Lee Hildreth capped a good performance when he flicked home from close range after being left totally unmarked to give City a late victory.
