Coventry Sphinx Assistant Manager Lynton Wilkinson has said that his side were unlucky not to have beaten Stourport Swifts on Saturday in a Midland Alliance fixture.
“We were very unlucky not to get the three points after dominating the first half and limiting Stourport to long range efforts,” said Wilkinson.
“Luke Downes put us ahead with a cracking 25 yard volley but a defensive mistake lead to Stourport equalising.
“The second half sending off of Ashley Cain changed the game completely and we defended like Trojans and relied on hitting Stourport on the break. “We were unlucky not to have been given a penalty when Ricky Cutting forced his way into the box and his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by a defender sliding in with the ball looking to have hit his arm.
“I asked the referee after the game and he said it was ball to arm which is a bit baffling. But, overall, I have no complaints and the lads played really well and deserved the point.”
