Adams was hoping to bring the 18 year old Portugese striker to Highfield Road ahead of the trip to Reading on Saturday.
He may now go for Oldham Athletic's Scott Vernon on a loan deal. A bid for the talented youngster of £50,000 from Blackpool has already been rejected by Latics boss Brian Talbot and City may need to increase that fee in ordfer to secure him.
