Coventry City Technical Director Mark Venus has said that he hopes that Newcastle United will allow Adam Armstrong to stay with the Sky Blues for the rest of the season.
The loan of Armstrong, who is currently away on England U19 duty, is due to expire in January and the City boss is hoping that it can be extended for the rest of the season.
Venus told the Coventry Telegraph: "Unless you feel he is going to go back and really, really make a difference, which I find it hard to think Newcastle believe that after spending an awful lot of money on more established strikers, why do you want to test him somewhere else when he’s only 18 and settled somewhere and enjoying his football.
“He’s being productive on the football pitch and then you can reassess him in the summer rather than in January.
“It might upset his whole lifestyle, turn it round and make him wonder why the hell he did it in the first place.
“So I think he has to stay here, unless they really want him, and then he can reassess himself in the summer and look at where and what he does next.”
