Viva The Sky Blue Ultra

Can I suggest that The Sky Blue Trust think again about the idea from one of their board, of having a flag, we've been there done it and with the shape and design of the stadium unless its full then it will not be able to be moved around the stadium and therefore will only be able to held behind the goal.

If you disagree then i would suggest a flag to represent the 125 years based on the original colours and history of the club.

I would agree we need to improve the atmosphere, including not welcoming other teams to the stadium, how the players names are read out and what music is played before the game etc

As a suggestion we need to develop an atmosphere based on the Ultra movement signing up to the five aims

  1. never stop singing or chanting during a match, no matter what the result
  2. never sit down during a match
  3. attend as many games as possible (home and away)
  4. loyalty to the stand in which the group is located
  5. To create an atmosphere

To implement this then the stand behind the goal block 10,11,12 should be allocated as other fans will not be affected by the signing, banners and displays. If you go in to the block you will know this is where the 'Ultras' are based.

The Club will need to give access into this part of the stadium at least 2 hours before kick off and provide a space for any flags and banners etc to be stored.

To create the atmosphere you are calling for will not with the greatest of respect be created by a flag. However a display of banners and flags of the scale in the Italian stadiums will help. The atmosphere is then created by the committment to never stop singing/chanting. At its best there are 35-50 away fans who regularly chant, at home in my opinion there is no atmosphere

If given the go ahead the display will depend on the finances/resources given but the cost of balloons, huge streamers in sky blue and white which go from the top of the stand to the bottom, huge banners will not cost a great deal. If allowed sky blue and white flares and smoke bombs will add it to but i cant see this being given the go ahead by the Club/Police.

Finally, if the Trust/Club are seriously up for this then the Ultra leader will need the use of a megaphone to coordinate the chants and goings on. If you look at pictures of Ultra groups in Italy you will often see 2-3 fans facing the crowd leading the chants. Are the Club up for this? You cant even have the top of the coke bottle so what will the reaction be if someone walks in with a megaphone!

Have a look at http://www.ultras-tifo.net/ to see some ideas. There are examples in English stadiums and England has a display of the St George at every home game but the pictures of the Italian stadiums offer the best examples of streamers, banners and flags etc

Look forward to seeing what you guys think, but I think the worse you can do is get one flag as by game 3 in my view it will die a death

Long life the Sky Blue Ultra
