There had been much disappointment amongst the City support that players had not been brought into bolster the side especially at right back when Monday's transfer window closed.
But Coleman said to the CT: "The squad is far from complete and we have to continue in the next window. "We keep saying we have not finished the building and it is important for the players that we have got that we up the ante and the fight for places.
"I think we have been very cute in the summer with the six we have brought in because we have only paid fees for three of the players and relatively small fees for the quality that we have got.
"We have to be careful with our money which means that sometimes we may have to wait a bit longer for the players we want and get on with it.
"Everything we do is progressive but we don't do anything in a rush or a panic because if and when I am not still at this club I want to be happy that it is not in debt and has a good team in place. "Because if I ever left with the club in £25 million debt, then I wouldn't have been doing my job.
"So I have got to be very careful with the money being made available to me and I won't bring in someone just for the sake of it, but the right-back situation has been a problem."
