The midfielder during his days at Highfield Road, did not feature for Blackburn in their League Cup game at Gillingham and was left out of Rovers defeat at Sunderland.
"I think it is obvious he would like to move to a club of that size (Villa) without me trying to cover it up.
"The problem is we want the value we think Stephen is worth and that is the most important thing from my and this club's point of view," former Coventry City defender and now Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce said to the media.
