Coventry City supporter Michael Byng has said that the Wasps deal for the shares in Arena Coventry Limited is not sustainable.
Byng, who is backed by a Chinese consortium which would be interested in the Higgs Share which will be first offered to the liquidator of CCFC (Holdings) Ltd Paul Appleton, told the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert: “My investors are absolutely interested in acquiring the Ricoh Arena and the football club outright.
“Let’s assume they need to get the Higgs Charity’s shares to do that. I have been in contact with Mr Appleton about the first option agreement.
“I approached council officials about this but was told there was nothing to discuss. I believe we were turned away because the council wanted to do this deal with Wasps, on the face of it that appears to be the case.
“The deal with Wasps is not sustainable or in the best interests of Coventry. It condemns Coventry Rugby Club and Coventry City to the third tiers of their respective sports.”
