We Are On Target - Ranson

Coventry Chairman Ray Ranson has said that the things are going to plan.

One year after taking over the Sky Blues with his backing from SISU, Mr Ranson has admitted that his first year in charge has been a rollercoaster of a ride but an enjoyable one.

"Is it what I expected? Probably yes, although there have been more issues with the football club to deal with than anticipated, and dare I say we have spent a lot more money than we anticipated in the first twelve months," said Ranson to the CT.

"That is not on players but historical debts and tidying the club up. But we are delighted with where we are and the foundations are good. We have stability and SISU are very supportive."

The club expect to lose around £4m during the current financial year and are working to reduce the losses which were around £80k a week.

"We have tax and inland revenue and all sorts coming out of the woodwork which most people in business will have experienced before but the football club is in good shape.

"Thankfully, we are probably the only club in the world without an overdraft and I am not joking about that. We have an investment group behind us in SISU Capital and we are trying to reduce our monthly losses.

"We have drawn funds from SISU and that is the way the club is capitalised. Although there is not a bottomless pit, we have a plan in place.

"I think SISU are happy with their investment, they seem to be but you would have to ask them if they are happy with me but I am still here.

"It is a long term plan and I don't want to sound like we are lacking in ambition because we are not but you only have to look at clubs like Charlton with all due respect to see that you can get yourself into problems. I don't want to harp on about the past of this club but you have to do it properly otherwise you end up in big trouble."
