"If we can get a regular 20,000 plus at home games next season it would be great and the best way for fans to get behind us is to renew their season tickets because we can't do it on our own," said the former Acting Chairman and supporter for over fifty years to the CT.
"I would like to publicly thank the fans for their continued support through what has been a tremendously difficult season.
"The Charlton game was a particularly bad afternoon for the supporters but they were still there in their thousands, and I am sure they were there in even greater numbers glued to their televisions, radios and Ceefax back home.
"It's been that sort of season where everything has gone down to the last minute but the supporters have stuck with us through thick and mostly thin.
"When you look back and realise what we have come through as a club you have to say that things will only get better.
"We have got an incredibly enthusiastic and forward thinking chairman and enthusiastic and intelligent management team who I am sure will provide the fans with plenty to shout about next season and beyond.
"The fans have been magnificent and deserve to see success at their club and we need them more than ever next season as things hopefully start to fall into place and the club moves forward."
