"I think we deserved more than we got but deserving and getting are two completely different things," Boothroyd said.
"We dominated the second half after going one up but we've come up against a very professional team that's been around in the Championship for a while, they what it's about and how to manage a game and when we score we want to go and score another rather than winning the game properly.
"The effort and application of the players in the second half was very, very good and you can say we deserved this and that but ultimately two very poor goals have cost us tonight.
"The second half was encouraging but we've got to get back to winning ways and we've got to do it quickly.
"We put Forest under alot of pressure and if we keep doing that and playing for the whole 90 minutes rather than picking and choosing when we play then we will be a good outfit.
"We have to keep a cool, head, not panic and get on with it and keep going because you don't want to feel sorry for yourself, you want to get back on the front foot."
