We Need The Supporters Get Behind Us

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he needs the City support to get behind what they arte trying to do.

There was only seven thousand City fans in the Ricoh Arena to see City's latest defeat to Bristol City and many are grossly unhappy with the manager for his tactics, his recruitment of players who are not up to the ability of players who have left the club, the lack of motivation in games like against Crewe or the abilty to deal with well drilled sides like Bristol City, whilst others are refusing to attend matches until Pressley is out of the club.

However, Pressley has urged the City support to back him and his management team and told the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: “If you look at the 90 minutes objectively there wasn’t a lot between the two sides and you could argue that we had a much better second half but you’re judged as a manager by what happens on Saturday afternoon and I know that we need to get results and quickly.

“It’s difficult times for us just now and I’m very much aware of that. There’s frustration, a lack of confidence, but I’m truly determined to turn this round and I believe I will.

“This is a difficult period for everybody but more than ever I need people to get behind the team.

“Every week’s a test but this is probably the most disappointing period I’ve managed. I’ll take responsibility.

“Not only am I trying to rebuild a team I’m trying to build a football club. This is a long-term project – I signed a four-year contract to change the club and I fully intend to do that.

“I’ll never hide but we need a little bit of help just now – we need the supporters to get behind what we’re trying to do here.”
