Coventry City midfielder Gael Bigirimana says that everyone in the first team squad has to work really hard in the remaining matches in order to keep City in the Championship.
Speaking to the CT’s Alan Poole, the young midfielder said: “In this league you have to be competitive,” he agreed; “you have to do a man’s job.
“ You can’t just go out thinking you’re going to use your skill to play nice football – when you haven’t got the ball you’ve got to get it back, you’ve got to work your socks off for the team.
“You have to make use of each other’s strengths and we did that a lot – we got the ball to Alex Nimely’s feet because he’s so strong, and used Jordan when he was finding space down the wing.
“We were a bit nervous in the first half but it was like that at Cardiff as well – it’s rare you get teams playing their best football in both halves.
“The gaffer gave us a lot of encouragement at half-time.
"He told us to go out and enjoy our football, play the way we know we can and we stepped up a gear and proved that we are a good team.
“The senior players and the younger lads like me know that we’ve got to work really hard because there are some massive games coming up but there is a lot of strength in this club and this community and everybody is desperate to do well – the fans, the players and the manager.
“All we can do is stick together, listen to what the gaffer and Steve Harrison say and be ready for everything that comes against us.
"But we believe that we shouldn’t be in this position and that we are good enough to get out of it.”
