Football League Chairman Greg Clarke has said that he hopes talks to keep Coventry City playing in Coventry continue.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mr Clarke said: "I feel their pain. Coventry is a great club with great fans, won the FA Cup not so long ago. "I have been to Highfield Road for Leicester versus Coventry matches and when the Coventry fans, many of whom have contacted me, have complained about this - I think they are right.
"Coventry City should be playing in Coventry and it is down to the stadium owners and club owners to see common sense and take that football club back to Coventry.
"Now, the Football League cannot impose as we do not have the legal right but we strongly recommend that they sit down sensibly and find a way to play football in Coventry , so their fans can follow their team in Coventry.
"We have been nudging behind the scenes . Our chief operating officer Andy Williams has been meeting with both parties trying to get compromise but positions have become so entrenched over the last year with the fall out over the stadium and the insolvency that tempers are rising so we have to calm things down, encourage them to sit down together and recognise that everyone would be better off if Coventry City plays in Coventry."
