Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he wants players in all positions scoring goals.
Having lost or dispensed with the services of his top four scorers from last season, there is concern as to who will get the goals for the Sky Blues who kick off their League One campaign at Bradford City on Saturday.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Pressley said: “The key is sharing the goals around – if we’re going to be an exciting team again, we need goals from all areas – our midfield players and our defence as well as the strikers.
“The onus on everybody to contribute rather than relying on two or three players.
“We need goals from the likes of Danny Swanson, Jim O’Brien, John Fleck, Conor Thomas and Billy Daniels,” he said, “and they all have the attributes to do that.
“Of course it’s difficult when you have to replace a Leon Clarke or a Callum Wilson, and twice as hard when you lose both of them.
“It’s never easy to find a 20-plus goal-scorer but there’s no reason to presume we haven’t got one in the building.
“This time last year nobody thought that Callum would make such an impact, so who’s to say that Marcus or Shaun or Josh won’t have an outstanding season?
“Hopefully we’ll soon have four strikers competing for two places and it’s really important to have that pressure."
