We Want League Wins - Tabb

Coventry City midfielder Jay Tabb has said that beating Bristol City tomorrow in the Championship is more important that League Cup victory against Newcastle United.

Said Tabb to the CT: "It's always nice to have a good cup run but the league's what we're here for," he said - "that's what we want to win.

"Everybody is looking forward to Newcastle and the pressure will be on them, not us, so it should be a good game. But really it's just a distraction between the Bristol and Doncaster matches.

"It wasn't a nice feeling when we lost against West Ham last year but we had showed we were a good side - played really well and deserved to win - so that made it easier to take.

"But we have to beat Bristol if we are to maintain the good start we have made.

"Our first-half performances haven't been good enough in all three games so far, especially against Barnsley last Saturday. "We were a bit slow out of the traps but the manager got into us at half-time, made it clear that it wasn't acceptable, and we came out in the second half with all guns blazing.

"This will probably be our hardest test so far because Bristol surprised everybody by getting to the play-off final last year and have got a couple more new players this season.

"The one thing you know about Bristol is that they will never give up, never give you an easy game, so if you get three points against them you know you've had to work for them.

"And they've got Dele Adebola, who is probably the strongest man in the league. "I'm sure he'll get a great reception because he did really well when he was here and he has always been great for young players, helping them and bringing them on.

"It will be nice to see him again - I just hope he doesn't have one of his better days."
