Speaking to the Press Association after the game, Boothroyd said: "I thought we had the better of the first half. We played really well and were the better team.
"Hull were a Premier League club not long ago, and they have good players and a good manager. They also have a good home record, so we had to be resolute. It is also nice to get back to a clean sheet.
"For all of the play and the furore in the second half I think we cancelled each other out.
"We have to look at the big picture. We've taken four points from three games this week.
"We're getting better and better as a team and I was pleased to get a clean sheet.
"We ran out of steam a bit at the end and gave the ball away a bit cheaply in the second half, but I knew we'd wilt a bit."
