We're At Home And It's A Derby - Thorn

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn is pleased that the Sky Blues were rewarded with a home draw against Birmingham City in yesterday's Capital One Cup Second Round draw.

Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole, Thorn said: “I’m well pleased with that. “I’m sure a lot of fans would have preferred to be playing Villa but apart from that I think this is as good as we could have hoped for.

“We’re at home, it’s a derby, and both of our games against them last season were very tight so it should get everybody buzzing. Bearing in mind the Arsenals and Manchester Uniteds aren’t involved at this stage, I think most of them would take Birmingham over somebody like Sunderland or Fulham.

“You’d like to think that Birmingham will bring a decent following so there should be a great atmosphere at the Ricoh and it should be good for us financially – a nice little reward for Tuesday night.

“It wasn’t pretty at Dagenham but it’s the sort of game that has tripped us up over the past few years and I think it showed that we’ve come a long way in two or three weeks. We need to get a lot better but it’s a start.”
