Manchester City's Irish international goal keeper Shay Given was stretchered off at The Emirates on Saturday with a badly dislocated shoulder and will miss out on The Republic of Ireland's summer internationals, so Coventry City's Kieren Westwood will now take his place as Ireland's number one 'keeper.
The Republic of Ireland have two friendlies lined up in May against Algeria and Paraguay and it looks almost certain that Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni will give Westwood the chance to prove what he is capable of on the international stage.
Ireland have an friendly against Argentina arranged for August and Westwood may be selected for that game as well.
