Westwood Stays For Now

There were sighs of relief tonight when the clock struck eleven and the transfer window closed and Keiren Westwood was still a Coventry City player.

There had been rumours that Wigan, Leicester or Newcastle who were reported as to having a bid of £500k rejected, were all interested in the Republic Of Ireland international.

However, nothing came of it and thankfully, Westwood, who is rated as one of the best keepers in the Championship, remains a Coventry City player until midnight on June 30th unless he is offered and signs a deal to extend his stay at the Ricoh Arena.

The news that Westwood is not leaving until he is a free agent means that his former club Carlisle United will miss out on a percentage of his sell on fee.
