‎The Coventry Charity Football Cup, which first started in 1907, has a new winner and that is Whitnash Town after a 3-0 victory over The Bell\AEI Rugby in the final.‎

‎Both teams in this all Coventry Alliance Premier Division final at the Ricoh Arena started positively having early shots from free kicks.

Whitnash had Luke Cole testing Sabol with an eleventh minute twenty yard shot which dipped over‎ and five minutes later, Cole was clean through but Sabol used his body to block.

In the 20th minute, Town took the lead when a corner was cleared off the line and the ball fell for Henry Leaver to drive low past Sabol's left hand from the edge of the area.

Luke Cole had the ball in the net four minutes later but the flag had long been up as Cole slotted home at the far post‎

Briscoe attacked on his own in the 28th minute and got through only to stroke Sabol's right hand post.

After Jack Taylor fired wide in the 42nd minute, Mike Eliis drove wide and although The Bell forced three corners, Whitnash led at the break.

In front of a crowd of over six hundred, Ross Briscoe got through for Whitnash, seven minutes in to the second half, to send a right footed shot wide and three minutes later, Josh Cole won the first of two corners. Sobol punched the second away. But the ball only went ‎as far as Henry Leaver who was thirty yards out. Leaver, who was presented with the Man Of The Match award by Coventry City defender Jordan Clarke, he sent an audacious lob which took a deflection and flew in the net.

Whitnash were far from finished and in their third game against The Bell this season, they made it three in the 61st minute thanks to Josh Cole who was proving a right handful for the Rugby defence, scoring with a low drive.

Briscoe had a goal disallowed, fired wide‎ and then hit the post before both managers made changed with all six substitutes coming on to the Ricoh Arena turf. One of the substitutes in Paul Wilkinson got in a great header which Sobol dived to his left to pu‎sh away in the 85th minute as Whitnash, who also had another goal chalked off, ran out worthy winners.
