Letter in response to Tom Lowe's article in the Coventry Telegraph - http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/sport-opinion/fans-zone-sky-blues-love-6806472 from Michael Orton the Keep Cov in Cov Campaign Coordinator.
"Tom Lowe expresses eloquently the despair that so many Coventry City fans feel today: but he is wrong to talk in terms of the position with CCFC being a long distance relationship – people who call it a ‘hostage’ situation are much nearer the mark.
Last year the overwhelming majority of fans made it clear they opposed the move to Northampton Town. But our view was ignored and our beloved Club was taken away from Coventry. The fans’ campaign symbol is a sky blue ribbon which is to show, just like in real hostage situations as some people say, we are waiting for a loved one’s return.
But this isn’t quite a hostage situation because we can still support our team at away games. We can also continue to fight for a return to Coventry. This was always going to be a war of attrition and it has a long way to run yet.
So as fans, we have a choice – we could give up and consign our Club to the history books. Or just as Steven Pressley and the players have fought against all odds this season, we can keep fighting every step of the way and for as long as it takes.
So, Tom, buy your tickets for the games at Brentford and Crewe. Stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow City fans and bellow out as loud as you can our unique anthem which today means more than ever before: ‘While we sing together, we will never lose…We’ll fight ‘til the game is won’."
