Wasps Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Wilton has said that Wasps aim is to engage with the Coventry public and get them to a Wasps match at the Ricoh Arena.
Wasps, who have lost their last three matches in a row, have taken over Coventry City Council's shares in Arena Coventry Limited to a vast spectrum of views, brought up seven hundred and fifty of their fans to have a look at the Ricoh Arena over the weekend, and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert, Jeremy Wilton said: “We haven’t set a definitive target. The first three games are all about getting our fans to join us at the Ricoh, engaging with the community and generating new spectator interest in the Coventry area.
“Our aim is to engage the Coventry community, get them to come and experience a Wasps game, and then hopefully they will come back.
“We believe there will be a strong take-up of people wanting to come to the Ricoh Arena.
“The feedback we have had in High Wycombe and West London indicates there will be a strong uptake, but what that means in actual numbers, we don’t know.
“We hope a lot of our supporters now understand the reasons and rationale why Wasps made this decision and we hope they will come with us on the journey in to the next important chapter in Wasps' history.”
Wasps will play their first game at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday December 21st against London Irish at 2pm.
