Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that winning is still important after City’s 1-0 victory against Kettering Town on Saturday.
Speaking about the game in which Gary McSheffrey headed the only goal of the game in the 50th minute, Thorn told Sky Blue Player: "I was pleased with the win obviously but it's still about performing and how we progress towards the start of the season.
"Winning still does have it's uses though because it breeds confidence and gets us into that habit of winning games.
"It was a good test for us but I thought we gave ourselves a test as well because I didn't think we were 120% right in the first half so I asked for a performance in the second half and I got it which I was really pleased about.
"I thought I would leave the first half lads on a little bit longer to allow them to respond to what we said at half time and they did that and all in all I think you need a game like that in pre-season, where you need to dig in."
