Speaking to Sky Blue Player, the City boss said: "Each game I can see us getting closer to where I want us to be and with new players coming in all of the time they have a little bit of catching up to do but as those new players bed in with the rest of the players I genuinely feel we are going to get better and better as the season goes on.
"I had a good place to start with the club already to be honest and we know we need to bring in one or two others and we are working hard at doing that.
"We all want to get started now and get playing for points but West Brom will be an incredibly tough test for us before the season starts and will definitely add to our preparation.
"They were promoted to the Premier League having played some fantastic football and they have their own big challenge ahead of them this season in the same way we have."
