Coventry City's latest signing, centre back Richard Wood has been speaking of his respect for his new club manager Chris Coleman. He is eager to get down to work
Wood said, "I am delighted to have signed and I am really looking forward to working with the manager.
"I have a lot of respect for Chris Coleman, who, just like me, was a centre-half and I'm hoping to learn a lot from him.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge. There is a good squad here and a good management team."
Meanwhile Chris Coleman has been speaking about his own respect for Richard Wood.
It is no secret that Coleman has been chasing Wood for some time. Coleman said, "When I came back from working in Spain and I was a bit out of the loop I said to my chief scout Andy Thorn that I wanted to identify a centre-back, and Richard Wood was the first name he said," said Coleman, "so that's how long I have been trying to get him.
"He has got 200 games under his belt and knows this division, and I believe he is one of the strongest defenders in this league.
"He ticks all the boxes for me - he has got good pace, he attacks the ball well and is a thoroughbred. We maybe need to beef him up a bit but he is a good defender and he's here for the long term."
