Former Coventry City winger Jordan Henderson could be out for a lengthy spell after being stretchered off during Sunderland's match with Wigan Athletic yesterday.
Henderson, who impressed the City support during his time at the Ricoh Arena last season and had impressed Steve Bruce and Eric Black to earn a new contract and regular place in the Sunderland team this season, was stretchered off with what is suspected as ankle ligament damage.
"It's badly twisted," said Steve Bruce to Sundarland's club website. "We'll take him away for scans and x-rays and all the rest of it.
"It looks like we won't be seeing him for a few weeks - if not a few months."
