Morrell joined City from Wrexham and had been playing for Bury FC.
Wrexham had made their intentions known a while ago but Morrell was reported as being hesitant about moving out of the Football League and into the Conference.
However, with it looking unlikely, that he will be staying at Gigg Lane, Wrexham has become a more attractive proposition.
