Coventry City defender Stephen wright has said that his side could learn from Sheffield United next season in an attempt to earn a place in the top six.
The 30 year old Wright is out of contract in the summer and is unsure whether he will still be at the club next season said to the CT, "It is a difficult place to go, although they weren't any great shakes on Saturday, and their fans were expecting them to go up this year. They look like they have just fallen short this season but they have had a lot of injuries."
"For me, they epitomise what this league is all about because they get forward and keep the ball in your half. They have got two big fellas up front and they get the ball in the box and they get players in the box. They have got two decent wingers and two dogs in the middle of the park and that's easy to me."
Wright admitted that too many players, including himself have not been playing their best and that Coventry play better when they got back to the basics.
"I have not been happy with myself in the last couple of games but there is always a next game when we can all do well," said Wright, "We have to stand by each other and if someone makes a mistake you have to help your mate out. It is about being close again and we have lost that a bit in the last couple of games, the nitty-gritty bits. We are not a footballing team, we know that."
"We get it in their half and when there is time to play we can play, but our game is all about getting the ball in the box and scoring goals, and when we were doing well that's what we did. But we have shied away from that at the moment. One lapse in concentration and it has done us again on Saturday. It was not all Woody's fault, it's collective."
"We were saying 'let's stick together out there', which we did in the first half but for the first ten minutes of the second half we didn't start again and that's killing us. We want to push on and do well and there was a little bit more fight and a little bit more heart in there on Saturday. Nothing is falling for us at the moment at one end and little mistakes and things that we do are costing us.
"We want to get back to it because we need a result. We will take confidence from Saturday's overall performance and we just need something to go for us like it did against Peterborough before Christmas when we brought an end to our previous bad run. Ever since that game we went on so we have got to get back to that."
Wright is out of contract in the summer and is unsure what the future hold for him, especially as Martin Cranie and Jordan Clarke are both contenders for the right back place.
Speaking about his future at Coventry, Wright said, "Nothing has been said to me. My people are in talks with the club but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'd love to sign a new contract because I am happy here and I think we can have a good season next year."
He concluded by saying, "It is important to finish strong because you take it into next season. You look at last season when we didn't win the last ten games and that wasn't nice. This year we are a better and closer knit group. You hear people saying they are not scoring or not crossing, or that they are not tackling or they are all over the place but there is always the next game and we keep saying, 'keep going, keep going', and it will happen."
"We have got three games left and nine points to play for and hopefully we can win all three."
