In a game they needed to win Coventry City were beaten 1-0 at Chesterfield.

At the Proact Stadium on a sunny but cold day. Russell Slade changed the team around

The first half was of no pattern and both sides fashioned only a handful of half chances in the first half.

The second half was marred by injuries. Ryan Haynes was down for a couple of minutes but was ok to continue but Tom Anderson was involved in a 61st minute collision with Marcus Tudgay and he was stretchered off looking in a bad way

In the 76th minute, the deadlock was broken when Dan Gardner was left free on the edge of the area to thump the ball high into the net.

In a half where eleven minutes were added., Chesterfield had some good chances to extend their lead as did George Thomas.

However,  City could not find the net and went down to a defeat they did not need.
