Coventry City failed to stop the run of defeats with a late 1-0 defeat against Rochdale.
At the end of a week of two defeats and conflicting statements of whether the Sky Blues need a new stadium or not, Coventry City took on Rochdale in what was a must win game if City wanted to stay in the top six.
Tony Mowbray named a City side which had Joe Cole back in the starting eleven and one which conceded an early free kick and corner to a side playing in a green and black striped shirt on a day of changeable weather.
It was sunshine for the first half for a City side that attacked the end were the few Rochdale fans were.
Charles-Cook saved from McDermott in the tenth minute but was given offisde by an assistant in a green shirt and black shorts which was rather too close to Rochdale's kit.
Rochdale who had not lost a league game in Coventry, were the more attack minded and won another corner in the 14th minute through Ian Henderson. Another followed straight away and this time, Vincelot cleared.
In the 17th minute, Maddison fired at Lillis and Armstrong came in for the loose ball. Unfortunately, the loanee could not get his shot on target and the ball went out for a goal kick.
With the clouds hovering over the Ricoh, Maddison drove at Lillis on the half hour mark and then fired wide on his left five minutes later.
Armstrong did have the ball in the net but the flag was up for offside.
Rochdale went and won a 35th minute corner and City had a free kick before Vincelot fired a twenty yarder at at Lillis.
On the stroke of half time, Lillis did well to get near a super strike from Adam Armstrong and push round for a corner.
At half time, the match officials changed their shirts to yellow ones and Martin Lorentzson came on for Baily Cargill who had picked up a knock.
Keith Hill's side were first to press winning a 48th minute corner that had to be hacked away.
Ruben Lameiras who worked hard, helped to win a 55th minute free kick.
Charles-Cook made a great save to concede a 66th minute corner. The ball came over and there was McNulty to get in a header which Eastham inadvertently cleared off his own line.
Jacob Murphy was sent on with Dale bringing on Grant Holt and in the 72nd minute, Fortune came on for Joe Cole.
There were "Sky Blue Army" chants as the City support in the lowest home gate of the season, tried to rally the team.
Maddison continued to be hacked for the Sky Blues who were now playing three up front.
Jamie Allen fired at Charles-Cook with nine minutes to go whilst a lethargic City side had Murphy fire at Lilis at the other end.
Armstrong had the ball in the net in the 84th minute but again he was offside.
There was two minutes left when Rochdale were awarded a penalty. Ian Henderson stepped up and scored and a flood to the exits started for the disgruntled City support.
