Coventry City allowed Bristol City to continue their run of form at the Ricoh Arena as the Sky Blues went down to a 1-3 defeat.
After the low of losing at bottom of the table side Crewe, there was hope of a much better showing against top of the table and clear Bristol City.
Steven Pressley, who has taken plenty of flak this week, with letters now starting to appear in the Coventry Telegraph, calling for his dismissal, changed the team from the side beaten at Crewe and brought back Adam Barton who had played well for U21's at QPR on Monday night.
Attacking the end where the Bristol City fans who numbered around 4,000, the biggest number of away fans since City returned to the Ricoh Arena, were massed, for the first half, Covenry cleared a fourth minute and went up the other end and won a corner through Jackson .
In the tenth minute, Bristol City were ahead when a daisy cutter of a long ranger from Marlon Pack beat Ryan Allsop on his right after Mo Coulibaly failed to close down his marker.
City won three corners as Pressley in a red hoodie and shorts, scribbled furiously in his notebook and the stewards and police entered the away end.
Bristol City, who were well drilled, won a 20th minute corner and two minutes later, a mistake by Fielding gave City a corner on a dry but windy afternoon.
Jordan Willis and Andy Webster defended well, Barton, the excellent Aaron Phillips plus Danny Pugh before a hamstring strain got the former Leeds player and he had to be replaced by Ryan Haynes, tried to get City going forward against a Bristol side which showed some nice approach play and were able to muscle the ball off the City players without too much fuss.
Two minutes were added on at the end of the first half and in that two minutes, a glaring error allowed Keiran Agard to walk through and stroke the balll past Allsop on his left.
It was no surprised that City were booed off and Pressley sent on James Maddison for the second half.
Jim O'Brien won a corner and a Haynes cross was headed over by Phillips.
In the 54th minute, there was a minute applause for a Bristol City fan Mark Saunders, who had died of cancer, which was marked by both sets of fans.
The visitors, backed by their noisy following were having the play, so Pressley made a like for like substitution with Shaun Miller coming on for Josh McQuoid.
Miller fired wide in the 65th minute for a City side which was has now picked up one point in eighteen and six minutes later, Aaron Phillips got in a header which Fielding got down to save.
In the 75th minute, the home areas came to life when Shaun Miller got the ball from Maddison and ran into the area and thumped it on his right past Fielding.
The City support started to encourage the Sky Blues who won a corner.
The industrious Jordan Clarke and Jim O'Brien got in tackles and the Sky Blues started to play the ball around but it was not to be as in the final seocnds, Elliott played in substitute Scott Wagstaff who thumped the ball past Allsop and Coventry City were beaten.
