Coventry City went down to a late 2-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town.

A good excuse for the Sky Blue Army to have a day by the seaside was taken up by a couple of hundred City fans including some of our Northern based support.

After arriving by tram at Highbury Stadium, we saw City fresh from last night's win over Cheltenham field a far stronger side.

Included in tonight's side were three trialists in Portuguese winger Fabio Martins, who looked like Don Goodman, French striker Mathieu Manset, who had featured in the two games in Holland and blond haired Scottish centre-half Craig Reid (no relation to the former City youngster).

After a Evans free kick for Canley kid Graham Alexander's side, was blocked and we had the first SISU Out chant of the game, it was the home side who had the first shot on target through a 20 yarder from Sarcevic.

It was not until the 21st minute when City created their first chance when Arron Phillips did well getting down the right and delivering a peach of a cross for Manset to stroke wide.

The home side came back with Murdock firing over, a corner and a harsh for free kick for Joe Murphy handling outside of the area in the view of the referee, who was not as well placed as either Murphy or the City support.

Stefan Schumacher curled the free kick wide of Murphy's left hand post and Fleetwood were on the attack again with a low Evans shot and one from Ball which went across the goal and out on Murphy's right.

Mathieu Manset showed some poor touches and some good ones in the space of a minute. The first saw him beat his marker but flick the ball towards Davies.

A minute later, he showed a lovely touch to get the ball on his left and fire a shot which took a deflection and went out for a corner.

There were no changes at the break and City were straight on the attack when Manset rifled in a shot which was beat away by Davies and then as Moussa followed up his shot was blocked.

Thomas and Garner both had shots go wide before former Queens Of The South defender Craig Reid who looked reasonable watched a 54th minute Schumacher free kick go out for a goal kick.

On the hour mark, Steven Pressley made his first change with Ben Maund coming on for Manset.

Fifteen minutes later after more long rangers had sailed over the bar, Pressley sent on all his youngsters bar Burge.

With nine minutes to go, Fleetwood attacked down the right and the ball came across and hit David Ball on top of the head and went into the net.

The tune for "Captain Pugwash" blasted out of the speakers and five minutes later, the same song was heard when Brown hits a shot which Murphy does well to even parry but the ball landed at feet of Antoni Sarcevic, who scored from close range to give Fleetwood, whose debutant Ryan Cresswell was deservedly named as man of the match, a 2-0 win.
