And so Coventry City's FA Cup run is over after the Sky Blues went down to a defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Well a day many did not think we would see with the Sky Blues dropping into League 2, saw Coventry City travelling to Brighton And Hove Albion for an FA Cup Fifth Round tie.

Most of City's 4,500 allocation was snapped up and the City support set off for the South Coast to the Amex Stadium.

On a sunny day, it was a superb turn out with City supporters taking over Brighton and Lewes and there were queues as the City support arrived to see a City side with four changes.

Kick off was delayed until 3.15pm due to numbers trying to get in. Those who did get in, including Brighton supporters who raised a "Sisu Out"  banner saw City take to the field in grey shirts and black shorts.

The Sky Blue Song blasted out as the game kicked off with an early free kick which went straight into the arms of Tim Krul.

The Seagulls were the first side to have a corner in the fourth minute and then another which was stroked onto a post before City got a free kick for offside.

City's first corner came in the 11th minute and saw a great save from Krul to push the ball on to the bar.

In the 14th minute. Brighton took the lead when the ball came over and Jurgen Locadia, a £14m buy on his debut, dropped off his marker and scored smartly past Burge.

Locadia missed two good chances against a City defence which went two goals down when Conor Goldson headed in following a 33rd minute corner.

Barrett volleyed wide before Locadia drove at Burge towards the end of a half at which City needed the break in order to regroup.

It was Brighton who made the changes with a double switch at the break.

Marc McNulty fired over in the 54th minute following Barrett sending a free kick into the wall.

Rod McDonald came into City's defence which did nothing to stop Leonardo Ulloa heading home on the hour mark.

A 69th minute free kick lead to a corner for City who continued to fight, despite allowing the side far too many chances.

As it kicked off in the corporate area. Jordan Ponticelli came on for Marc McNulty in the 73rd minute.

City pressed and in the 76th minute., the ball fell to Jonson Clarke-Harris who thumped home from ten yards. It sparked wild scenes in the away end with one flare on the pitch, a couple of fans on the pitch and was a goal that City deserved for their effort in the second half.

Against a quality side like Brighton, City were always going to be up against it but the players and the City support left with their heads held high, knowing that although their Cup run was over for another season, they had made a game of it.
