Man Of The Match. The City fans for turning up

At a time when City are trying to sell season tickets, putting in another awful performance which had the Coleman In and Out Camps arguing amongst themselves, to lose at Sheffield United, was not what was needed.
City travelled to the red side of Sheffield with Gary Deegan and Jon Stead out for the season and on a gorgeous day, Chris Coleman fielded a team which again had Freddie Sears and Clinton Morrison up front.
City attacked the Kop end first, well I say attack as Simonsen in the Blades goal had nothing much to do in the first half.
The City support, which included supporters from Liverpool, Manchester, Gloucester, Yorkshire, Kent, Surrey, London as well as the Coventry & Warwickshire area, were in good voice cheering every touch early on. That included Stephen Wright, who was in much better form and he defended well including making a good header to concede a 25th minute corner.
With Richard Wood covering Leon Barnett before the loanee sorted himself out, City struggled to get forward. When they did, Sears and Morrison had to rely on scraps from crosses by Baker and Bell who today, were providing crosses that were as much use as a faller in the Grand National.
The home fans were still singing their version of "Annies Song" when their fans which included a singing section based in the corner, towards the Main Stand, had something to celebrate when the ball was banged up field. It got played across to Richard Cresswell, who kept up his run of scoring against City with a firmly struck shot two minutes into the second half.
The Freds were swapped with Eastwood coming on for Sears, who might as well go back to West Ham for all the good he has been.
"Fight, Fight" and "Get In To Em" sang the City fans directing the players wearing all sky blue to lift their game, Micheael McIndoe came on with Wright being shoved upto midfield.
Richard Wood had a 68th minute header off the line and five minutes later, a Wright back header was blasted over. Then, with fifteen minutes to go. There was a back pass meaning City had a free kick some seven yards on the left of the area. Sammy Clingan took it and instead of squaring it to better placed players he blasted over the bar.
That was it for some of the City support to my left and there was a loud chant of "We're sh#t and we're sick of it", followed by chants of "We Want Coleman Out". The latter was not sung by the whole end but there was not a City supporter in the ground who was happy with the way things are going with the Sky Blues who have now dropped down to the 17th position in the league which they were when Chris Coleman took over.
Jordan Clarke made a welcome return to first team action and put in a couple of good crosses but any hope of getting something from this game ended when Gunnarsson, who again looked a shadow of his former self, blasted over, along with David Bell.
Some City supporters booed or just snubbed the players at the end as others applauded at the end of another day where Coventry City have done themselves no favours.
