Coventry City put an end to Wolves' play-off hopes coming from two goals down to snatch a draw.
For this trip up the M6 into the Black Country for a game which was far more important to the home side than it was to the Sky Blues following defeats against Crewe and Preston, Micky Adams dropped Andy Whing and Dele Adebola.
Richard Duffy and Stephen Hughes were given starts with Adams again deciding not to include a keeper after withdrawing Jonny Tuffey at the eleventh hour.
Many of the City support who had coughed up £27 to get in,were just getting into their seats when Paul Ince won a free kick. Up stepped the former Manchester United and Middlesbrough midfielder and he drove the free kick past Marton Fulop.
Playing five in midfield, City started to boss the centre of the pitch. In the 19th minute,Stern John flicked the ball with his left to deceive the Wolves keeper and then flicked narrowly wide of the far post with his right.
Another City corner was cleared but in the 22nd minute,Wolves went further ahead.
The pacy Aliadiere raced through midfield, before cutting the ball back for the recalled Colin Cameron to stroke into the net.
We stood at a damp and depressing Molineux just looking at each other, not knowing if this was going to turn into a rout ala Crewe.
This time the answer was no, as two minutes later,we were jumping round in celebration when a goal was pulled back thanks to Michael Doyle and Stephen Hughes combing to cross for Stern John to head in from six yards.
Wolves might have gone further ahead but Mark Kennedy slammed his 32nd minute shot into the far post with Seol seeing his rebound fly off Robert Page for a corner.
Page was everywhere, certainly impressing a friend from America that I had the pleasure of watching the game with, and along with the rest of the side were playing some neat football despite the worsening of the conditions.
Four minutes into the second half, Dele Adebola took over from James Scowcroft as Adams went for something a bit more attacking.
The change worked as in the 59th minute, referee Mr Gallacher gave City a free some thirty yards out when Joeleon Lescott brought down Stephen Hughes who along with Michael Doyle had fine games. Dennis Wise looked at it,but Gary McSheffrey who is being touted as a player with a £4m price tag, claimed the ball. It proved as correct as backing Numbersixvalverde in the Grand National,as McSheffrey curled the ball high into the net, sending the Sky Blue support into raptures.
Sensing his season and possibly his tenure as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers could be over depending on which media sources you believe, Glenn Hoddle made a double 67th minute change sending on former Womble Carl Cort and Mark Davies for Seol.
With eleven to go and City happy with the draw, Andy Whing came on for Richard Duffy. Rohan Ricketts who loaned at Highfield Road under Peter Reid last season had a run-out as did Don Hutchison before Mr Gallacher called time and City left to the applause that this performance merited.
