City U18's Keep Title Hopes Alive

Coventry City remain on course for the Premier Academy League Group B title with a 2-0 victory at West Ham United.

With Andy Hall in fine form, City contained the young Hammers in the first period. However, in the second half, they attacked the visitors and were ahead in the 54th minute. Kevin Thornton had his shot saved by Sutherland in the home side's goal, Gary O'Toole also saw his follow-up shot blocked. The ball spilled out for Kevin Thornton to pick out Vijay Sidhu who rifled home from fifteen yards.

Nine minutes later, City doubled their tally when the Sky Blues midfield and strikers had Tony Carr's side under stern pressure. In came, Sidhu to take the ball off a defender and smash the ball into the net from close range.

With Steve Ogrizovic watching both the U18 and U16 games were going on simultaneously at the Little Heath Tennis Club in Dagenham, Brian Borrows sent on Craig Reid. The striker with the most appearances for City Reserves this season almost added a third with a good shot late on as city romped to another well deserved victory.

City U16's were leading 1-0 to West Ham with a second half goal by Ryan Birch before being pegged back for a 1-1 draw.
