Every time Coventry City have lost the last away game of the season by three or more goals, they have bounced back the following season on four occasions and that stat became five when the Sky Blues won 2-1 at The Valley tonight.

We had an absolutely horrendous journey and had to ditch the car at Hillingdon and get a tube and train to South East London.

We missed the first twenty minutes of a game which saw City attack the big home end first.

Apparently,we had missed not a lot bar City pushing forward and looking to break after Phil Parkinson's side had the early play.

The 600 strong City support with many coming from London plus travellers from Denmark and Norway, were celebrating in the 24th minute when a volley from Clinton Morrison flew into the net only for it ruled out for offside.

Fifteen minutes later and with the City fans taunting Charlton with "Thats why you are going down" due to the quality of their shooting, the away end went mental.

Danny Fox was the architect of the move with a decisive break down the left. He sent over a stunning cross and there was Robbie Simpson about ten yards out to volley in.

More abuse of the inept Ismael McLeod, came from a South London based Sky Blue to my left as an Eastwood shot on the turn ended a good half for City.

Within ninety seconds of the restart, The Addicks were back in the match. Charlton broke and a player went across Danny Fox and went down.

It looked harsh but referee Mr Whitestone in for Trevor Kettle, looked at his assistant who did not signal anything and gave Charlton a penalty which Deon Burton converted via Westwood's left hand post.

Just under a minute later, our advantage was restored. Mr Whitestone gave City what looked to be a harsh free kick. Danny Fox was about 25 yards out and like his two previous goals, curled the ball high into the net with Weaver helpless.

The City bench with Steve Kean running onto the pitch in celebration, celebrated as madly as we did.

The Sky Blues completely controlled the midfield. Jay Tabb, Mifsud and Gunnarsson ran themselves into the ground whilst Robbie Simpson and Danny Fox attacked at will.

The back four was solid and it was City who had all the chances. Simpson and Eastwood both had a go on goal before Parkinson made a double 65th minute change bringing on Todorov and Gray.

There was clear frustration amongst the Charlton players and three were booked.

Danny Fox and Robbie Simpson were also cautioned but the Sky Blues were not to be denied and cruised to an easy victory.
