Coventry City are going to Wembley after beating Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 in the EFL Trophy Semi-Final.

The Sky Blues went into the game having beat West Ham U23's, Northampton, Wycombe, Crawley, Brighton U21's and Swansea U21's without the suspended Jordan Willis and the cup-tied Nathan Clarke, Kevin Foley and Farrend Rawson.

Cian Harries started in a game that delayed by fifteen minutes due to City supporters having problems getting in to the ground for City who also had Jordan Turnbull and Dion Kelly-Evans in it.

There might not have been the sell out there was for the Crewe semi-final in this competition albeit in a different format, but there was a good crowd who made plenty of noise as the game started with Callum Reilly having the first effort after 35 seconds with a shot at the keeper from the edge of the area.

Stuart Beavon drove wide on a pitch which is clearly showing the wear from having both football and rugby union on it but Wycombe were soon down the other end forcing Charles-Cook into a save.

In the tenth minute, City took the lead when Stuart Beavon created space and drove ball low into the net to big celebrations.

The songs from the City support flowed as did the banging of a drum in the away end. Included was a Sisu Out chant but it was soon followed by the Sky Blue Song.

A 17th minute cross had to be scrambled away by a combination of Charles-Cook and the City defemce. They attacked and a ball was sent over to the unmarked George Thomas on the right, who smashed it into the net for his second goal against Wycombe, who fielded Cov Kid WIll De Haviland, in this season's competition.

After the celebrations had died down, a yellow flare was let off. It did not delay proceedings by much and City were soon back on the attack with Tudgay volleying over.

Wycombe had a shot at Charles-Cook and in the 25th minute, Thomas was through again but fired wide.

A corner for City followed, taken and over-hit by Thomas as a City side continued to play in the style of City U23's on the deck rather than the first team hoof.

Andy Rose headed wide from a 33rd minute free kick, and then got in a shot which was deflected and fell for Beavon to fire at Blackman in the Wycombe goal.

Harriman got in a shot as Kyle Reid continued to cover every blade of grass for the Sky Blues who could have had their lead reduced in the 43rd minute when Myles Weston missed at the far post.

Both sides made changes at the break with Jodi Jones coming on for Stuart Beavon and the rather portly Adebayo Akinfenwa coming on for the visitors.

Both sides then had chances before Charles-Cook had to deal with a 48th minute Weston cross.

Jones put in a good cross which Blackman dealt with and sent up field. It fell for Adebayo Akinfenwa and he thumped it home to make it 2-1 with 54 minutes gone.

O'Nien drove just wide from twenty yards for a Wycombe side which might have had a shout for handball in the 57th minute.

Charles-Cook caught a deflected shot by Stewart for Wycombe who sent on Kashket who had scored in the tie at Adams Park.

Jack Finch came on for Reid, who had been lively for a City side which won two free kicks.

The first went to a Wycombe player with the second leading to a corner.

Akinfenwa was continuing of making a nuisance of himself to the City defence, helping in a move which saw Anthony Stewart drive well wide in the 73rd minute.

Dion Kelly-Evans went into the book of a referee who was missing rather a lot in the 77th minute. That led to a free kick and Saunders firing wide.

With ten minutes to go, a ball went across the box as both sets of supporters in an 11,672 crowd tried to lift their team and get the next decisive goal.

City had to clear a corner as a chant of if we win we're on the pitch, sparked a flurry of activity.

Turnbull and Jones made clearances as six minutes were added on.

The City support were on their feet as time ticked away and the final whistle went and City had done it.
