Coventry City were held to a 2-2 draw by Crewe.
The last League One game before Christmas and still no end in sight to the team's captivity in Northampton.
With a new stadium land deal, either in Coventry for which it would be exceedingly hard for the Council to object to, or in the "Coventry Area", those wishing to support either City or Crewe or those whose employment involves CCFC, were forced to make yet another trip to Sixfields on a grey day.
City manager Steven Pressley had bar Jordan Willis, a full squad to select from and he named a starting eleven which saw Callum Wilson and Chris Dagnall start along with Chris Maguire, whose brace had delighted 6,781 City supporters at MK Dons.
There was a lot less City supporters inside Sixfields, in fact, the lowest crowd this season, on a bitter afternoon to see Crewe, attacking the end where some of the City fans were, force two early corners and have a Harry Davis free kick sail on to the roof of the net.
In the tenth minute and in view of ten on the hill, City had a free kick of their own which did not beat the first man and went for a throw.
Three minutes later and had a shot blocked, Crewe took the lead when Tom Hitchcock was allowed room to run through and drill a low shot into the bottom of the net.
Another Crewe free kick went close whilst Chris Dagnall was beaten to the ball at the other end by Ben Garrett, followed by a corner for the visitors and City having a 25th minute free kick for a foul by Dugdale. That free kick went back to Jordan Clarke on halfway line. Dagnall knocked it over to Wilson but the assistant on the main stand side had his flag up and another attack came to nothing.
Two more corners for Crewe followed as did Matt Tootle curling wide of Murphy's left hand post from 25 yards.
City's first corner came in the 35th minute, after Osman had got in the way of a Christie shot. It was a great ball right into the mixer and there was Franck Moussa to score at the far post to draw the Sky Blues level.
As the City supporters behind the goal launched into a chorus of "Gangsters" by The Specials, Callum Wilson went on a surgung run and won a 43rd minute corner.
Two minutes later and City had the ball in the net but Christie was adjudged to have been offside when he set up Callum Wilson to score from close range following a ricochet.
The Sky Blues were straight on the attack for the second half of a game which was now being refereed by fourth official Ed Smart, with a corner that was hacked off the line.
In the 54th minute, a great burst of speed saw Callum Wilson speed forward into the area and Ben Garratt came out and promptly whipped his legs away.
Wilson got up and although the strong wind kept moving the ball, the Coventry kid kept his cool and scored from the spot to give City the lead which was over-celebrated by one fan who was promptly ejected.
.
City looked like they would go on to wrap this game up but ten minutes later, it was the turn of the 243 Crewe fans to celebrate when Maguire played the City defence into trouble and the ball was centred from the left for Chuks Aneke to slot past Murphy.
Chris Dagnall had not had as much of the play as he would have liked and for the last twenty minutes, he too no further part after Steven Pressley in his black coat, sent on fit again Leon Clarke.
Over-hit balls were not helping City's cause, despite a good performance from Conor Thomas, but a lovely 75th minute dink from Leon Clarke saw Fleck's shot win a corner.
Carl Baker, came on for the last ten or so minutes replacing Moussa before Seaborne made a great block as Crewe made another raid down the left.
With three minutes to go. Jordon Clarke threw himself in where it hurts to stop Evans scoring a certain goal.
City wnet up the other end and won a corner but after Garratt had flapped. Adam Dugdale dived into block as Leon Clarke came in.
Both sides kept going but it was a point each at the end of the day.
