Coventry City finished their 'home' campaign with a 1-1 draw.
Ronan Keating may feel that life is a rollercoaster but supporting Coventry City certainly is and another season of up and downs saw the Sky Blues going into their final game at Sixfields of the season still not mathematically safe from being relegated.
And who was this game against? None other than the newly crowned League One champions Wolverhampton Wanderers, who went into the game needing four points to break the record of 102 points set by Plymouth Argyle.
The Wolves fans were out in force, some in fancy dress, with a good number in Northampton very early. Some City supporters did not fancy being surrounded by Wolves supporters and stayed away but there were City supporters from as far away as Germany as well as the likes of Gordan Strachan and Alex McLeish to see a City team which had Mark Marshall back in the starting eleven that faced a Wolves side who did not even have Leon Clarke, rumoured to be wary of a hostile reception, in their squad.
Joe Murphy, who is still unclear of his City future captained the side who got a great reception from the City support in North Stand who were pretty happy that this stand would be open if Coventry City cannot sort something out about a return to its city.
With beach balls flying around the East Stand which was given to some of the 2,170 Wolves fans, and some good noise from the City support, Andy Webster got in an early tackle on Michael Jacobs.
Webster, then got in a great block to concede a sixth minute corner which Nathan Delfounseo was able to head away.
Delfounseo, who linked well with Marshall in one attack, fired wide in the tenth minute before McAlinden gave Murphy a catch at the other end.
Steven Pressley in a long coat on a blowy afternoon and his assistant Neil MacFarlane who had been casting an eye over some of City's young teams this week, watched on as Marshall blasted over in the 18th minute.
Marshall delivered a free kick which missed everyone apart from Carl Ikeme, as the Sky Blues started to hold Wolves in the midfield.
McAlinden fired at Murphy, Marshall blasted over and Dave Edwards got in a harmless flick before there was applause from the North Stand as two Wolves fans held up a 'Keep Cov In Cov' banner and a 'Fix Football' protest on the Hill.
Just before the break, the emergency services were called into the South Stand and a stretcher was brought in and one fan was taken into an ambulance.
Six minutes into the second half and Wolves had the first real chance with Evans firing wide from twenty yards
After a double change, Wolves forced Murphy into a double save and then won a 64th minute corner.
Three minutes later and City fashioned their best move of the match so far, when Christie, who been booked, drove wide.
Murphy save a free kick whilst at the other end, the City fans were having a laugh and joke with Carl Ikeme about the amount he was drinking and how bored he was for not having anything to save in a game which was beginning to look like a draw had long been agreed.
Then in the space of two minutes, the game sprang to life when Dave Edwards got the ball on the left and scored with a neat finish.
The Wolves fans celebrated but less than two minutes later, the. City fans were going mad when Marshall sent over a free kick and Nathan Delfounseo rose to head home under pressure from a defender.
Delfounseo, who had his best performance in a City shirt today, was replaced in stoppage time as the Sky Blues who came back out to a lap of appreciation well after most of the support had left, took a point which was enough to keep them up.
