Coventry City drew an entertaining game 2-2 against Barnsley.
City's third consecutive league game against opposition from Yorkshire, was against Barnsley at Sixfields and had been preceded by Steven Pressley further strengthening his squad by signing the out of work Simeon Jackson on a year's deal.
The former Millwall striker was on the bench against a Barnsley side which included former loanees Reece Brown and James Bailey and had former City defender Martin Cranie as their captain.
An unchanged City side which was watched by a number of scouts including John Ward, were lucky to get away Scot free in the third minute when Sam Winnall was allowed to turn a shot over unmarked inside the area.
But straight away, City countered and Josh McQuoid slipped the ball past Davies to give Davies the lead after three and a half minutes, following a long ball forward from Allsop.
In the tenth minute after a great long ball, O'Brien volleyed and Davies had to beat away for a corner. When that ball came in, Tudgay got in a header but it was headed off the line by a covering defender.
After a collision between O'Brien and Dudgeon which looked worse than what it actually was, as both players got up without the need for treatment, Jim O'Brien against his former club, curled a free kick inches over the bar.
On the half hour mark, a foul on Tracey, who was the best player on the pitch by far, by O'Brien, gave The Tykes a free kick. Up stepped Conor Hourihane and his curler beat Allsop on his right hand post.
Allsop did well to block from Cranie two minutes later whilst at the other end, a Swanson free kick came to nothing. But in the 42nd minute. City had another free kick. The ball was headed on by Jim O'Brien and there was Jordan Clarke to lash into the bottom corner to delight the thirty or so on the hill and those in the ground which had a new bit of scaffolding rising out of the East Stand.
Two minutes were added on by Mr Miller and in the third minute of that stoppage time, Barnsley won a throw then a corner. The ball was not held on the line by Ryan Allsop, when it was played in from the left and Leroy Lita was able to bundle into the corner of the net.
Neither side made a change at the break and it was City who had the first shot on target through Danny Swanson, who showed some good feet all game, in the 48th minute.
Ryan Haynes, who had another fine game, sent a long cross over to win a 53rd minute corner which was met by a Clarke header and then O'Brien scooped wide.
A City free kick was cleared and the ball was sent back in for Tudgay to head over and then McQuoid was blocked by Davies.
Steven Pressley, in a red hoodie and black shorts which came just above his knee. watched on as a hospital ball from Johnson back to Allsop only went for a 61st minute free kick.
Danny Wilson who made his own way to Sixfields rather than travelling on the Barnsley team coach, made a double change and brought on Devante Cole, son of Andy with Pressley sending on Shaun Miller for McQuoid, who left to good applause.
Johnson cleared a Tykes free kick as far as a Barnsley player in his own half but Ryan Haynes was putting in some excellent crosses and one was headed wide by Johnson in the 73rd minute.
Four minutes later and the Barnsley fans appealed for a penalty when Luke Berry slipped trying to get past a solid defence which had Jordan Willis in excellent form. City countered and O'Brien sent a long cross onto the roof of the net.
Pressley brought on Simeon Jackson for his debut for the last nine minutes along with Billy Daniels and the striker had a header and one touch where if he was fit, he could have got himself in on goal.
Barnsley had a corner and James Bailey, who looked solid for the Tykes, fire wide and a point each from this entertaining affair was fair reward.
