Coventry City got their first result at Blackpool in years with a 1-1 draw this afternoon.
We'd had a troublesome journey to the worst ground in the division. Still half built and with a completely open away end, a big City support of 1711, were grateful that it was a warm and sunny day.
The Sky Blues were unchanged from the side that had beaten Preston and should have been ahead in twenty seconds when an Aron Gunnarsson shot flew inches over from twenty five yards.
City passed the ball round well early but when it came to the final third again the delivery was not as penetrive as we would have wished.
Clinton Morrison had a shot flashing over the bar in the 21st minute, but thankfully, Blackpool were equally ineffective.
Issac Osbourne had to make two headed clearances from right wing crosses and free kicks to ensure there were no goals at the break.
Eleven minutes into the second half and there was a goal. Blackpool cleared a City corner and broke upfield.
Ward and Jay Tabb should have cleared but the ball fell to Ben Burgess to stroke low past Westwood from sixteen yards.
The home side nearly went further ahead in the 63rd minute, when Burgess rose to head against the bar from four yards.
City quickly sorted themselves. The ball was played into Clinton Morrison who had a one on one with only the keeper to beat. Unfortunately, Rachuka came out and blocked the shot.
The City support, many of whom took over the bars in this downmarket town, were not happy that this golden chance was wasted.
But,in the 68th minute,it was all smiles as Freddie Eastwood got the ball inside the six yard box and drove the ball between the keeper and his right hand post to draw City level.
Going mental on a temporary seating area stood on slim metal poles but we celebrated as best we could.
Keiran Westwood, who was wearing a sponsorless shirt, denied Burgess brilliantly with his legs with fifteen minutes to go.
Leon McKenzie had been involved in the goal and had played well but he was replaced along with Morrison, who looked not pleased with the decision.
Michael Mifsud had come on and in the 87th minute, he was close to snatching City's first win at Bloomfield Road since March 1923 when he fired over after getting the ball on his right.
In stoppage time and with the City support heading for the pubs, Mifsud fed Gunnarsson inside the area. Rachuka grabbed and City took a welcome point from this game.
