Coventry City Ladies eased past lower league locals Coventry Copsewood with a 5-0 demolition in a pre-season friendly.

The Sky Blues got on the score sheet in the first minute when Emma Lipman ran straight through the opposition defence and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper's left hand side.

The lead was doubled just eight minutes later when a through ball by Kelly Ann-Willis from near the halfway line caught an awkward bounce and flew straight over Copeswood goalkeeper Tasha Smithers.

Coventry City's third goal came fourteen minutes into the second half. Sinead Wade got a shot on goal and the clearance hit fellow striker Yvette Dolphin as she was coming in for the rebound and deflected into the back of the net.

Dolphin claimed her second of the match with a powerful header five minutes later. Despite being the smallest player on the field, she got her head onto an inch perfect cross from Amanda Whalley from the right.

Coventry City completed the job with fifteen minutes left. Emma Lipman passed the ball from the right to Sinead Wade who ran past the defender and coolly hit it home to make it five.

After the match, Coventry manager Stuart Wilson said he thought the team needed a “proper test” before the season begins. Coventry City Ladies have a few more friendlies lined up over the coming weeks with details to be confirmed.
