After the events which caused MD Paul Fletcher to resign, events which should finally be unveiled in the next few weeks, Coventry City needed a victory at Wolves to boost morale going in to the international break, but a last minute goal left Iain Dowie and the Sky Blue Army gutted.

Against a Wolves side which contained Gary Breen and Jay Bothroyd on the bench, the City players had to shrug off the club's headline making problems and get on with the matter in hand.

This they did early on,defending stoutly when the home side attacked the South Bank.

Wolves were struggling with injury and lost Gray and then their keeper Wayne Hennessey after a collision with Robbie Simpson.

Chancewise, City had plenty of possession but created little in the opening period.

The closest was a free kick by Stephen Hughes which sailed past the far post and a 35th minute drive from Micheal Mifsud.

Four minutes later,Andy Marshall made a good stop to thwart the advancing Elliott.

Choruses of "Sweet Chariot" to mark England's winning the rugby v Australia filled the stadium as Wolves piled on the pressure.

Mick McCarthy sent on Freddie Eastwood at the break. The hard working Ben Turner who improves with every game, was straight onto him and did not let the former mobile home owner settle.

As the bookings continued and
the Wolves fans complained about the standard of refereeing,Michael Mifsud and Gary Breen, both on yellow cards, got involved with a bit of handbags. Mr Stroud thankfully gave players a lecture.

City's best chance of the second half, if not the match, came in the 78th minute through Michael Doyle who was played in down the left. Doyle raced through but his right footed shot went wide of the far post.

This was far from a boring game and in the third minute of stoppage time, Wolves won a corner.

There was no marking as Neil Collins got in a free header to give the home side an undeserved win.
