Coventry City made it three wins in a week wih a home victory over Crewe.
Saturday after two wins and the Sky Blues took on a Crewe side who have a good record at the Ricoh Arena.
Mark Robins kept faith with the team which won at Swindon on Tuesday night against a Crewe side which had former City loanee Chris Darnall as captain for a game which Robins had wanted the City support to turn up for.
When Sisu. Tim Fisher, David Boddy and co are out of the club then and the ridiculous £25 on the day admission is dropped, then there might a very good chance of filling the stadium but until such time, City will have to make do with the support they get which was not bad for a League Two game on a cloudy afternoon.
As the rain started to come down, Crewe started with an early corner and Chris Porter volleying wide from eight yards in the fifth minute.
Just over three minutes later and City were ahead when Jodi Jones jinked his way down the right and crossed for Duckens Nazon to lob the ball into the net.
Jones sent a shot onto the woodwork before the Sky Blues won a 13th minute corner.
Nazon was next to fire over for a City side which had Jones whipping in a great ball into the box in the 21st minute.
City continued to look for openings but it was not until the 40th minute that first Chris Stokes ran and fired wide and then City with Grimmer, Doyle, McDonald Kelly and Kelly-Evans all working well, won a corner.
Crewe had a corner as a good half for City came to a close.
The visitors made a change at the break as the rain continued to come down watched by Mark Robins now in a rain jacket and the Crewe fans and their annoying drummer.
In the 53rd minute, Jones crossed from the right for Nazon to get in a bicycle kick which went for a corner and then a throw.
Crewe won a 56th minute corner. Burge cleared for a City team which was losing their way slightly and not playing with the intensity they had been in the first half.
Brad Walker sent a free kick wide to the oohs of the away support.
Max Biamou was getting more interested in little battles with Michael Raynes, so Mark Robins took him and gave Stuart Beavon an outing for the last eighteen minutes.
Richards saved well as Nazon got through to give City a 75th minute corner. Doyle and then Nazon had shots saved by Richards, wearing all yellow.
Nazon turned and got in a shot which led to a 79th minute corner for City. Jones took it, the ball was nodded on and Nazon headed agonisingly wide.
Richards then pulled off a superb save, diving to his left to deny Jones and eventually conceding a corner with ten to go.
Devon Kelly-Evans and Jones both had efforts go wide in a game that really could have seen a big win for the Sky Blues if Richards had not made the saves he did.
However, a win is a win and against a team with a good record at the Ricoh, it is one that will do nicely.
