Coventry City took their second away win of the season with a 1-0 win at Leyton Orient.

The City support which officially numbered 1,172 plus four in one of the flats that have been built into all four corners of the ground, were on the streets of East London early and had taken over pubs in Central London and the few pubs that would let City supporters in, before piling into the East Stand.

The City support, which included supporters from Denmark as well as a good turn out again from the South, were applauded by a City team which had four changes from the side beaten at Brentford on Tuesday prior to the match kicking off.

That support had a goal to cheer in the sixth minute when Carl Baker got in a shot which was fumbled by Allsop and there was David McGoldrick to score and send the City support into raptures.

Russell Slade's side have had problems up front this season and on a bitterly cold afternoon in between the showers, the players he had up front proceded to waste some good chances.

Dean Cox was one miscreant, sending a shot onto the roof of the Tommy Johnson Stand in the 26th minute before City went up the other end and McSheffrey curled wide of Allsop's right hand post.

Joe Murphy did have to make one quality save and the Irishman did that, tipping a 31st minute header from Scott Wagstaff onto the bar. David Mooney ran in but could only lash the ball into the home end.

A minute later and thanks to a lack of communication in the City defence, Richard Wood, who kept things tight along with Edjenguele, Christie and Reckord, was forced to concede a corner.

That was dealt with easily and as the City supporters headed for the catering outlets underneath the stand, a McSheffrey shot was pushed away by Allsop. Carl Baker got to the ball but had his shot blocked for a corner.

There were no changes at the break for a City team in their sky blue kit against an Orient team in a red kit which made them look more like Crewe, than the traditional white and red kit many will remember them for.

McGoldrick had one shot from twenty five yards and then had another shot blocked when he decided to shoot instead of pass to players either side of him.

Again, the City support were treated to some bizarre decisions from a new referee in Tim Robinson and the official from Horsham began flashing cards round starting just before the hour mark as well as drawing huge ironic cheers from the City support every time, he gave City a decision.

Jennings had one long ranger go wide before Mark Robins sent on Franck Moussa for Gary McSheffrey.

In the final minute, Scott Wagstaff got through but out came Joe Murphy and the keeper did enough to put him off and ensure that the ball went past the far post.

Into stoppage time and Wood conceded a corner. City scrambled it clear. Mark Robins then sent on Stephen Elliott to replace David McGoldrick, to eek out the final few seconds and give the Sky Blues a win which was not pretty but one that was needed.
